Over 200 years old, the Old Courtyard is a quaint Portuguese building tucked away in one of the lanes of the historic Fort Cochin. A number of antique shops precede the hotel, preparing you for what lies ahead. The building has maintained its original structure and form and you cannot help but stare at the beautiful remains in awe of its majestic beauty. The stone walls, high ceilings and the open courtyard each have a story to tell and keep you wondering of the lifestyle of people who lived here once.
Rooms
Originally a home to the Portuguese, this quaint hotel has just 8 rooms divided into 2 Suites (1 air conditioned and 1 non air conditioned), 3 regular rooms (1 air-conditioned and 2 non air-conditioned) and 3 Superior rooms (all air-conditioned). The Suite is the highest category of rooms here and is antique looking. You cannot help, but get the feeling of being deported to the days of yore in this place. The wooden flooring, high ceiling and a romantic Portuguese decor welcome you; the white colour splashed all over the walls and linen playing with rich and ornate furnishings. The amenities include double bed, mosquito net, mini bar, luggage rack, full size mirror, sofa unit, dressing table, cupboard, television and telephone. The bathroom is spacious and has a bathtub with running hot and cold water and other amenities like soap, shampoo, linen etc. the Superior room is again a big room with wooden floor and ceiling and rich woodwork. The typical conical ceilings are specific to this kind of rooms and are very unique in character. The furniture consists of sofa chairs and tables, cupboard, luggage rack, study table, fancy mosquito nets, television, telephone etc. The bathroom is big with a shower cubicle, running hot and cold water supply and the same facilities as in the Suites. The Regular rooms are similar to the Superior rooms, but only smaller in size. Interestingly, these rooms are not accessible from the common corridors of the hotel. a spiral iron staircase is the only entrance to these rooms. All the facilities are the same.
Dining
The hotel has creatively turned the corridor of the ground floor into the restaurant. The high stone walls with arch shaped openings and ancient paintings in the wall blend well with the quaintness of the place. This open seating is ideal for a quiet meal with your favourite book in your hand.
Facilities
The services and facilities here include room service, housekeeping service, laundry service, travel assistance etc. This place is an ideal laid back holiday and their not providing these facilities is deliberate!

Location
The Old Courtyard is located on Princess Street in Fort Cochin. The airport is 40 - 45 kilometres away, the South Ernakulam railway station is 19 kilometres away while the Fort Cochin bus stand is just 0.5 kilometre away. The beach, where you can see Chinese fishing nets also is just a short walk away.
