Overview
Hidden behind an old rustic wooden gate and enveloped by local residences all around, the exoticism of Ranjit's Svaasa silently echoes within the old trees that overshadow its innate brick-redness. Run by the Mehra family themselves, Ranjit's Svaasa is a destination spa haveli, with a history dating back to over 200 years. Its possibly one of the oldest surviving haveli in Amritsar with photographs hanging in the Time Corridor as far back as seven generations.

Illuminated by the speckle of lights and incandescent candles, the atmosphere is best absorbed in tranquility. The haveli, like 'the breath' which inspires the name 'Svaasa', breathes in life; perfect for those seeking exclusiveness spiced by the signature Svaasa touch.

A part of the award winning ITC Welcome Heritage Chain of Hotels and Resorts, Ranjit's SVAASA flowers its soothing ambience and guest services in the comforting hands of its caring staff, an extension of the family’s morals and values, with character and serenity, where silence speaks more than words.

Designed by the otherwise similar twins, each of the three Suites recite a different story. There's so much more to them beyond words. Being the haveli's signature suites, early confirmations are much appreciated.

An option within the Presidential Suite is the Junior Presidential. As grand as the Presidential but slightly more cosy and just about right for your comfort, this houses the Grand Master bedroom  with its Day Room by itself.
Dining
After all, it's Rama Ranjit Mehra's endeavour to serve healthy. Organic, as much as possible, is procured and brought over to the Svaasa Kitchen to be cooked without the use of refined oil by the chefs. Healthy cooking practices are incorporated and a number of condiments are freshly prepared and served on a regular basis. Dishes that you would not have often seen, heard and tasted, but nonetheless are authentic to the Punjabi palate and popular to each season are served.

Dining by the Garden
The Dining By The Garden is a charming hideaway that seats thirty. It is a beautiful marriage of interiors offering a warm comfortable experience. Soft music, dim lighting, candles and a fusion of melodious aesthetics is coupled with the impeccable level of attention designed to pamper you. Dining By The Garden is popular for its buffet breakfasts and buffet dinners, as also the traditional thali dinners.

Herbs Cafe Verandah
The Herbs Cafe Verandah is a sociable lounge where one can enjoy a quite bite or high tea. A pleasant space along the north of the haveli with a scalloping roof and French style windows, its aura gives you much respite from busy sightseeing schedules. Here the evening lights play a scene from the past and an upright piano echos a fine tune; the old tapestries and the archaic flooring take you to a time way back.

Sun Deck Patio
The Sun Deck Patio is the patio breathing lovely foliage of fragrant frangipanis, finnish palms, flowering kochias, arica palms surrounding lounges waiting for your company. xA lovely spot for a private gathering, wine and cheese, Punjabi folklore... the Sun Deck Patio has hosted art exhibitions, high level executive breaks, musical evenings and more...

Aab, speckled with traditional charpais and manjas offers the locally popular Punjabi food. It serves special Punjabi delicacies like Sarson ka Saag-Makki ki roti, Poori-Aloo Laungi, Kulcha-Chana along with Lassi... typically like in the villages of Punjab. Aab, which means a river, changes its course every now and then to reveal a surprise. The cuisine, ambience and calling is like a mirror which reflects a story you wish for it to tell!

Attractions
Amritsar literally translates as 'amrit ka sar-ovar', the lake of the holy nectar. It is a patchwork of malls, branded stores, coffee joints, restaurants adjunct to which are the narrow streets and lanes of the walled city where till today one finds the old world charm thriving.

In Amritsar
Golden Temple

Harmandir Sahib, popularly known as the Golden Temple, is the most important and sacred shrine of the Sikh faith. It is the only place of worship in the world where the sanctum is located in a tank.

Gurdwara Baba Atal Sahib & Shahidganj Baba Deep Singh Gurdwara
A little further from the Golden Temple, a beautiful octagonal tower over 45 meters in height,  commemorates the birth of the 9 year old son of Guru Hargobind, the sixth Guru.

Jallianwala Bagh
About 200 meters from the Golden Temple is the historic icon Jallianwala Bagh. It is here that India’s freedom struggle reached a turning point. At the farthest end of the Bagh lies the Martyr’s Memorial built in the shape of an eternal flame.

Shree Durgiana Mandir
A famous Hindu shrine - Durgiana Mandir also known as Sitla Mandir. The Shitla Mata (Durga Mata) temple is more than six hundred years old. A complex is built as a replica of the Golden Temple. The domes of the temple are in the process of being plated gold.

Khalsa College
A breathtaking creation of architecture, the Khalsa College catches many an eye for its pure opulence and functionality. The majestic red-stone building is considered a gem of the Indo-Saracenic style which is strongly influenced by the Indian and Mughlai schools of art and architecture.

Wagah Border
Also known as the window to Pakistan, the Wagah Border, along the erstwhile Grand Trunk Road, is a joint Indo-Pak check post located about 29 km from Amritsar at Atari. It stands like a mute witness to the convoy of history but also shares the laughter of peace and good times. The Lowering of Flags Ceremony, better known as the Retreat, is like a high energy theatrical production which runs non-stop 365 days a year.

Sarai Amanat Khan
Near the Wagha Border lies a dilapidated Mughal era caravan sarai. It is one of a chain of caravan sarais on the Grand Trunk Road that was built by the Mughals to make the otherwise difficult Lahore-Agra journey an easier one. Amanat Khan was the legendary calligrapher of the Taj Mahal.

Pul Kunjarian
Pul Kunjarian is situated near the villages of Daoka and Dhanoa Kalan, close to the Wagha border, about 30 kms from both Amritsar & Lahore. It is a square pond near the site of a weekly market that used to be held before 1947.

Hall Bazaar
The Walled City or the Old City is popularly known as Hall Bazaar. Just as the name suggests it is a bagful of shops on the ground floor and homes above. Lined along the streets, within narrow galis and lanes, each katra (area) has its own speciality.

Around Amritsar
Radha Soami Satsang of Beas
The Radha Soami practice of Shabd-Yoga meditation involves recitations of God’s name and complete surrender to divinity. One may attend the daily Satsang and enjoy the spirituality and beauty of this Ashram.

Khadoor Sahib

Goindwal Sahib
Probably the first pilgrimage site of Sikhism, Goindwal Sahib lies 10 kms southeast of Khadur Sahib. Founded by Guru Amar Das on the banks of river Beas, it is famous for its Baoli or stepped well which has 84 steps leading down to the water.

Takht-I-Akbari
The platform or Takht-I-Akbari used for the coronation still stands on the towns outskirts as does the Akbari Masjid, built to commemorate the occasion. It is protected by Archaeological Survey of India and the Masjid is beautiful.

Mahakaleshwar Temple
The only Shiva temple in India where the Shivalingam is in horizontal position. Since time immemorial, a big Shivratri fair is held every year in the Mahakaleshwar temple on Shivratri day when a large number of devotees gather here to celebrate the festival.

Dera Baba Nanak
