Coffee Village Retreat, all of 300 acres of coffee plantation, beckoning woods, shimmering views of the Western Ghats, crystal clear water bodies nestles naturally in the environs. Add man-made comforts, a choice of two residences - one a 150 year old colonial heritage bungalow and another, a modern marvel of a building that provides holiday makers a homestay comfort that can spoil you for times to come.
Accommodation
It's a landscape that is characterized by rolling hills populated by coffee shrubs, stately silver oaks with pepper vines snaking around its barks, dense jungle and the fragrance of cardamom ripening and rich in meandering streams. Isolated, peaceful and staggeringly beautiful rustic landscape that swells and dips with valleys and peaks and with this, Coffee Village Retreat's two bungalows, the British Bungalow and New Bungalow, merge with the landscape endearingly.
Both Bungalows together have five cosy bedrooms with double beds and attached bathrooms. A total of 15 adults can be accommodated in the retreat.
Dining
Although many refer to the Malnad cuisine as an amalgamation of Coorgi and Mangalorean cuisine, it has its own distinct style. The cuisine in Coffee Village Retreat is heavily influenced by the variety of fruits and vegetables available in the rich forests of western ghats. The ingredients like tender bamboo shoots, colocassia leaves, turmeric leaves, raw jackfruit are easily found in the Sahyadri ranges. Steaming is a favored method of cooking in Malnad. More often than not there is minimal use of oils in Malnad cuisine.
