Mugilu

Mugilu is a homestay and plantation stay located on undulating hills in a small village near Sakleshpur.
The three cottages at Mugilu are color themed and add vibrancy to an already sparkling natural environment.

Mugilu is just 230 km from Bangalore and with the new roads, its a pleasant 4 hour drive from the city for an ideal getaway anytime. In these serene surroundings, you have ample opportunities for bird and butterfly watching - both endemic and migratory. Mugilu experiences gusty winds and cool breeze almost all days in the year. Anyone staying there will have the chance to witness glorious spring days, a light summer, misty mornings, torrential monsoon and chilly winters.

Having three cottages, Mugilu is exclusively for couples and small families only. This provides a perfect home ambiance and personal attention while still sufficiently spread out to offer every guest their own space without intrusions.

Rooms
Mugilu has been designed to be one with nature. You will see natural trails and pathways, less concrete and therefore the beauty as it originally was. The cottages have been built to accommodate nature, not to disrupt it. They are built in the style of the local houses - on stilts and having sloping tiled roofs, terra-cotta floors and ethnic coffee tree furnishing. The decor is bright and vibrant with a color theme to each of our three cottages. There is no Television or Air Conditioning.

Dining area
The dining area is at a lower level, amidst the plantation. It provides a scenic and serene atmosphere for a relaxed sit-out irrespective of meal times. Coffee tree furnishings, lounge sofas, bar stools and the sound of wind blowing through Casuarina trees add to the tranquil ambience. Mugilu's home cooked food, prepared to perfection will leave you with that warm fuzzy feeling of being pampered.

Located away from the concrete jungle, Mugilu is perfect for a relaxed and stress free getaway. Sit back, relax and rejuvenate yourself with ample help from the surroundings and nature. Birding
The plantation is home to over 55 species of migratory and resident birds which we have identified over the last few years. The Western Ghats are home to over 500 species of birds.

Nature Walks
Mugilu is popular and an ideal spot for short and long nature walks.

Plantation Walk
Mugilu has numerous trails that one can explore to see the variety of flora, fauna as well as how cardamom is cultivated.

Sight Seeing
Mugilu has enough to keep every one of its guests enthralled with the tree cover, the birds, the butterflies, valleys, plains, sunset and moonrise, and of course the natural beauty of the region.

If you wish to explore further, check out Manzarabad Fort, Bisle View Point and nature Reserve, Belur/Halebid, Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya etc. There is also a Tibetian Village called Bylakuppe about 2 hours away from the place.
