Kailash Beach Resort

The ancient fishermen hamlet of Pudukkupam established during the Chola period (IX-XII century) is located 10 kms south of Pondicherry city, in the Coromandel coast of the Bay of Bengal. Being near to the estuary of the Chunambar river and the Indian ocean it has a privileged ecological position, not far from the roman ruins of Arikkamedu, a port established in the first century of our era. It is between this hamlet and Pooranankuppam, the rice bowl of this region, that Kailash Beach Resort came up as the first establishment of this class in Pondicherry state.

Kailash Beach Resort provides an entire gamut of activities including swimming, yoga, Ayurvedic massage,indoor games and easy access to a bunch of popular sight seeing spots. At Kailash, traditional hospitality blends effortlessly with distinctive French savoir faire.

Rooms:

In a park of 3 hectares of tropical gardens, the buildings are in traditional Tamilian style with ancient sculptured granite pillars and teakwood columns. Two blocks of buildings offer 37 A/c rooms, each one with a private balcony and a different decoration. These buildings blend the ancient charme of South India with a quality modern comfort.

Food:

Restaurant serving French and Indian fares is at your service in the main restaurant hall, the terraces or the external verandas. All juices are freshly made from seasonal fruits.

The bar with its terrace around the swimming pool area provides a choice of wines and beverages for your taste.

A restaurant with a 'pandal', the Tamil traditional palmyra thatched roof can accommodate 80 people, ideal to invite your guests in an intimate atmosphere for all those special events and occasions : weddings, anniversaries and corporate meetings.

Snacks and beverages are served  from 6 am. to 11 pm. 

Facilities:

A conference hall in traditional style with a capacity of 150 guests can house  meetings and conferences, equipped with independent toilet facilities and situated in the middle of the coconut garden.

A TV and video hall is also available with WIFI. An independent brwssing room to attend to your pressing mails is available too. Fax, scanner and photocopy machinea are also available in the Reception. A music and dance kiosk is present in the garden where performances may be organised on request.

A shopping gallery brings to you the French publications of KAILASH EDITIONS along with handicrafts produced by the non profit DEVATARAS FOUNDATION workshop.

 

• A 33 meters long swimming pool, including a small pool for the children and a jacuzzi is made availale for the guests.
• Yoga and meditation (on request) may be arranged
• Ayurvedic massages for tuning your body, heal disorders like headaches, insomnia among others ( request details at the reception) in two equipped rooms, male and female masseur/se may be organised.
• Jogging or walks along the lonely beach and the river front.
• Enjoy the gardens for reading, relaxing or just day dreaming.
• There is a library well equipped with all the titles of our book publishing house KAILASH EDITIONS and other general publications.
• Table tennis and other in-door games.
• Cycling around our neighboring villages, with a map indicating the most interesting spots of these hamlets of fishermen and farmers. (rent at reception)
• Involve in teaching or volunteer work in the non for profit DEVATARAS FOUNDATION, an off-shoot of our hotel for sustainable village development.

Kailash Beach Resort is situated on the NH 45 A at 10 kilometers south Puducherry (Pondicherry) on the way to Tanjore.

The nearest airport is at Chennai (Madras) which is 160 km away.
