Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, deep valleys, beautiful meadows,
ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, its lakes, mountains, glaciers and its magnificent
cliffs like Half Dome and El Capitan.
For those wanting to set up camp, it has 13 campgrounds and is open year-round. Several
activities are available for adventure lovers including hiking, backpacking, nature walks,
stargazing programs, bicycle rentals (mountain biking not allowed though), rafting, mule and
horseback rides, skiing and rock climbing classes.
If you want to learn more about the natural and cultural history of Yosemite Valley, drop by the
Yosemite Valley Visitor Center, the Yosemite Museum, or the Nature Center at Happy Isles.
Also, LeConte Memorial Lodge (Yosemite's first public visitor center), and the world-famous
Ahwahnee Hotel are two National Historic Landmarks that are worth a visit.
Whether you're looking for the adventure of a lifetime, want to just enjoy the stillness of
nature, admire the diverse wildlife right from black bears and foxes to mountain beavers and
the Yosemite toad, or simply hike, backpack or ski you'll find your place in Yosemite.
