Why Visit ?

Sithulpauwwa: The name Sithulpauwwa is derived from the word

'Chittalapabbata' which means the hill of the quiet mind. The ancient rock temple is a place of worship for devotees. It is believed that in ancient times this rock temple housed a total of 12,000 monks.

Magul Maha Viharaya: Located to the south of Sithulpauwa, Magul Maha Viharaya is believed to have provided the setting for the marriage of King KavanTissa to Vihara Maha Devi. You could combine a visit to Sithulpauwe and Magul MahaViharaya as they are located closely together.

Camping: Camp out at the park, guided by a seasoned trekker. With onsite toilets available, camping here is just a little bit easier. They do succeed in otherwise providing a completely natural experience, what with having to build your own temporary dwellings and all! Do keep in mind their rules and regulations before your journey though!

Safari Ride: The point of the visit, you might say. An adventurous safari through the jungle, definitely a ride to remember. Spot a leopard here, at the origins of the Jungle Book.

Bird Watching: With a large number of species of birds fluttering about here, bird watching becomes a sheer treat. Over 90 species ensure that you?re not bored with those binoculars.
