Wynberg Resorts

Wynberg Resorts is an eco-friendly resort in Wayanad, Kerala. Situated amidst coffee, pepper, rubber and vanilla plantations, eco-terrestrial cottages and tree houses are on offer. They provide custom made packages that include ayurveda, nature walks, birding, wild life tours, treks, and plantation tours and also engage in responsible tourism.

There are a number of Luxurious cottages and villas in Wynberg resort where you can can unwind and relax.

Eco cottage: All Eco Cottages are set like tribal dwellings; incorporating material comforts like running hot/cold water, tiled floors etc., in rustic settings. All bathing water is filtered & recharged in to ground, to recharge water table. Waste water is sent to dry pits, so as to prevent any pollution to the environs.
The cottages are built using local materials, with minimal use of mortar. Though in a rustic setting, the cottages provide all material comforts.

Eco tree house: The eco tree house is on a Venteak tree, roughly 25ft above ground with easily accessible stairs. This has a bed room, a balcony, bathroom with toilet.

Tent: The luxury tent is on stilts, 4 ft above the ground level, the flooring is completely wooden. This has a verandah, bed room, toilet area with toilets, showers, wash basin etc., The verandah is a great place to watch birds. The tent has a insect proof net on the front and on all the windows.

Deluxe cottage: Its a four in one duplex cottage, with a total of 4 cottages with all modern amenities and a balcony with a view of the mountain and paddy fields. Ideal for a group of 4 families.

Luxury Tree house: The luxury tree top is on a venteak tree, 18 ft above ground in an elevated place. This has a balcony, bed room, bathroom and a dress area. The tree house also features a TV/mini bar fridge, fan, and heater etc.. It is very spacious and luxurious. 

Luxury villa: Two villas adjacent to one another, featuring, a verandah, living room, bed room, and bathtub attached bath room, balcony, providing a panoramic view of the mountain in front and the lush green paddy fields. This has TV/Fridge/Heater etc.,. These are green buildings that use maximum local materials for construction. Blends with the plantation surroundings. Each of them have a built in area of 630Sq.Ft.

Dining
Wynberg has got an in-house dinning area-to seat 35 pax comfortably. All food is buffet style, providing South Indian, Kerala as well as North Indian cuisine in all the meals. Freshly brewed coffee, with fresh milk from the cows is provided in the morning/evening.

Wild life: In addition to safari drives, explore the silence of jungle with them, with various treks that they do for a wild life enthusiast. Short,medium,long treks with forest personnel and tribal guides into the sanctuary, subject to approval by forest dept. Prior intimation needed. So, apply for in advance. In all wild life treks, safety is taken care of and all necessary permissions of the forest department are taken.

Tribal interaction: With about 7 different sects of tribes around the plantation, a peep into their life is made possible with the approval of the Chieftians.With minimum intrusion into their life, have a feel of the life style of the sons of the soil. Prior intimation needed.

Plantation walks: Within their own property explore the plantation life – cultural practices of coffee/rubber/pepper/vanilla etc., with the promoters being Agricultural graduates-more insights into the cultivation aspects.

Outdoor treks: Soft/hard treks to the various mountains with the permission of forest dept is done with qualified guides, Prior permission needed.

Birding: The resorts itself has plenty of bird life for the attuned. Around 39 species of birds are found in and around the cottages. They will help you with identification-with books/binoculars. Join them on the birding safari. Most commonly found are Minivets/orioles/fly catchers/drongo/robins to name a few...

Photography Trails: They can arrange for a  special session with the experts from their own panel-some of them nationally acclaimed photographers/cinematographers -subject to the availability of dates from the experts.

• Manikunnu mala trek- a trek up the mountain in front of Wynberg-birding/landscape/photography.

• Edakkal caves- A peep into the civilization of old age man-rock shelters-with lots of etchings-one of its kind in south of India.
• Thirunelly temple- Dubbed dakshina kasi-visit Papanasini-rid of sins-very old temple of Architectural and religious importance- besides the grand setting of the temple inside forest.
• Valliyurkave temple- one of the oldest temples in Wayanad-of historical importance and a 10 day festival-important for most tribes in Wayanad
