Why Visit ?
Whanganui National Park: This national park houses the mystical Whanganui River, NZ's longest navigable waterway. Deep in the park, you can also find the 'Bridge to Nowhere'. Though it doesn't fit in, it has an interesting story behind it.

Whanganui Regional Museum: One of NZ's good natural-history museums. You'll find many Maori exhibits like the carved Te Mata o Houroa war canoe and some vicious-looking mere. There are colonial and wildlife installations too to keep kids occupied. There are button-pushing and drawer-opening displays for the kids as well.

Sarjeant Gallery: This gallery houses historic to contemporary art displays. It also has an extensive permanent art exhibition and frequent special exhibits.
All the activities in this region revolve around the Whanganui River, one of the longest in the country. There are different ways to explore the river and the park it dwells in.

Hiking and canoeing: The journey along the mystical river in names one of NZ's 9 Great Walks. It take 5 days and involves paddling down the river and following hiking trails to the bridge of nowhere and other beautiful parts of the parks.

Jet-boating: An adventurous way to explore the river.
Al Ponte: The Italian menu features plenty of seafood dishes, zingy pizzas and penne alla putanesca. The Salciccia is a veggie delight and is the recommended pizza complete with tomato, mozzarella, zucchini, artichoke hearts and black olives.

Cracked Pepper: A restaurant that serves the best eggs Benedict in NZ. The service is lovely and the architecture is admirable. The menu also features great coffee, plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options too.
There are many shopping centers and malls where you can you shop.
Languages Spoken: English, New Zealand Sign Language and Maori.

Currency: New Zealand dollar

Climate: The temperature in summer varies from 22°C to 14°C while the temperature in winter varies from 14°C to 6°C.
