Seattle is the largest city in Washington state. This metropolitan city is a hub for software companies, trade, technology, and businesses. The region is surrounded by water, mountains and evergreen forests, and contains thousands of acres of parkland for Seattleites to engage in recreational activities. There is so much to see and so much to do, but no matter how amazing a city is, people are always on the lookout for good road trips. From Seattle, find yourself spoilt for choice with the number of great drives that are just a few hours away from the city. Cities, small towns, lakes, ports, beaches, and beautiful national parks - adventurers can take their pick.
Lake Chelan
Seattle to Lake Chelan is a drive that will take you about 4 - 4.5 hours via I-90 E. Though slightly longer than the US-2 route, this route is quicker. There are also a few pit-stops on the way (via I-90 E) that you might want to consider. The route will take you through Wenatchee National Forest, and several small towns, the most notable being Leavenworth. 
The Wenatchee National Forest has mountains, waterfalls, streams, and lots of wildlife in the forests, all of which make spectacular views. The region also has great hiking trails up the hills and around lakes. There is a detour to Wallace Falls from the national forest. Wallace Falls is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the state, and the reason is quite clear. Nestled in the midst of thick vegetation, the hiking trail which starts from the parking lot will eventually lead you to the dazzling waterfalls. The roaring sound of gushing water along with the serene calmness of the lush greenery somehow resonates peaceful vibes.   
Leavenworth is a small town that boasts Bavarian architecture. Enjoy a meal at one of the quaint eateries, and pick up knick-knacks from the old-world shops. If you find yourself in Leavenworth during the Oktoberfest or Christmas, you are sure to have a good time!
The drive from Leavenworth to Lake Chelan is a section of the scenic Cascade Loop. You will get to see breathtaking views along the drive. Beaches, lakes, and hills make up the diverse scenery, something the Cascade Loop is known for. 
If you like adventure, recreation, and a variety of scenic views, the road-trip from Seattle to Lake Chelan is for you.
Leavenworth
Leavenworth is a small town part of the Cascade Loop. This guarantees stunning and dramatic scenic beauty. The route via US-2 is about 2.5 hours long and will take you through Bothell, Monroe, Sultan, Gold Bar, Index, Baring, Skykomish, Scenic, Wellington, and Coles Corner. You'll see sparkling creeks and waterfalls, glorious lakes, and breathtaking meadows on the way.  
Flanking Tudor revival architecture, Leavenworth is a "Bavarian" village. This little postcard-worthy town has streets lined with pretty houses and quaint shops and eateries. The town offers up a taste of Germany with the famous Oktoberfest, and a grand Bavarian Christmas celebration, which is second only to the celebrations in Munich. You can tour the town, indulge in wine tasting, visit the Leavenworth Nutcracker Museum, and participate in recreational activities like biking, hiking, skiing and more. You can even choose to make a visit to the Icicle Canyon which offers picturesque sights and hikes along roaring waters. All in all, a road trip to this charming town has everything to offer for a vacation full of fun and frolic. Whether it's the journey to Leavenworth or the destination itself that's more intriguing - it's hard to say!
Mount Rainier National Park
Seattle to Mount Rainier National Park is a 2 hour drive and has a lot to offer as an exciting road trip. The route passes through places like Kent - one of the largest cities in USA, Puyallup, Auburn, and Buckley. If you have the time, you can stop to tour these cities and spend time in parks, around lakes, and visit museums.
Mt Rainier National Park is so diverse, that touring it becomes an all-day affair. The region surrounds Mt Rainier - an active volcano over 14,000 meters above sea level. The national park is home to meadows, waterfalls, canyons, glaciers, different types of old-growth forests, and several species of flora and fauna that adapt to the changing zones. 
Recreational activities like hiking, backcountry skiing, photography,  snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and camping are popular in the park. 
Visitors can view spectacular sights while hiking along the trails. Major attractions at the national park are, Carbon River - which is the only rainforest in the region, Mowich Lake - the deepest lake in the area, and Christine Falls and Narada Falls. Paradise, Longmire, Sunrise are areas around the region that have natural history museums, rustic log cabins, and breathtaking views. 
All in all, Mount Rainier has something for everyone. Whether you're a nature lover or an adventure enthusiast, this is the place for you.
Portland
This interstate road-trip will take you about 3.5 hours on the I-5 S. The route passes through cities like Kent, Olympia, Centralia, Chehalis, Castle Rock, Longview, and Vancouver.
Portland has a varied palette of places to see. You are offered a line up of galleries, parks, lakes, and museums. It is known for its hiking and bicycle trails, microbreweries, coffeehouses, and eco-friendly way of life. You will notice the people are very tolerant and quirky - which is why the city's unofficial slogan is 'Keep Portland Weird'. Theatre, dance and music festivals are common events and you're sure to come across one on your trip. 
A visit to Portland is great if you're looking for an exciting and eye-opening cultural experience.
Olympic National Park
To reach Olympic National Park, you can take a 2.5 hour drive via I-5 S and US-101 N. If you have time to spare, you can make pit-stops in the cities you pass - SeaTac, Tacoma, Lakewood, Olympia, Kamilche, Shelton, and Hoodsport. Apart from lakes, parks, botanical gardens, and others, these cities have a host of museums you may like to visit. 
Encompassing nearly a million acres, the Olympic National Park protects an extensive wilderness, thousands of years of human history, and several distinctly different ecosystems, including glacier-capped mountains, old-growth temperate rain forests, and over 70 miles of coastline. 
Tourists can participate in a variety of recreational activities like fishing, boating, backpacking, and camping. You can also go on tours with a ranger to view wildlife and discover the region. Come nightfall, and you can lay down and gaze at the stars in the heavens above! 
With such diversity to explore, touring the Olympic National Park is quite an adventure! You have to see it to believe it!
