Taj Garden Retreat

Often referred to as the little jewel of Kumarakom, Taj garden retreat maintains the beauty of its rustic surroundings. The 123-year-old colonial bungalow houses newly built Luxury Villas, heritage rooms and charming cottages. Azure backwaters, swaying palms, and floating houseboats etc inspired English Missionary Henry Baker, in the late 19th century, to acquire land on the banks of Vembanad Lake. Today, it is known as the Taj Garden Retreat.

Baker’s Dining Room offers relaxing ambience as well as a menu rife with ingredient-driven dishes from Indian, Kerala, and Continental cuisines. Karineen pollichathhu and kottayam duck roast are signature dishes.
