Getting to Tadoba
Maharashtra's oldest and most notable Tiger Reserve, the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is well known throughout the country. Located along the banks of the Andhari river, the word "Tadoba" is derived from the name of the God "Taru" who is worshiped by the tribal folk living in the forest. Originally started as a hunting ground for the Gondwana kings, the hunting continued until the year 1935 when it was banned. Apart from tigers, the park has rich flora and fauna as well as avifauna and is frequently visited by Nature Photography and Tiger enthusiasts.
