Sattal Forest Resort is a boutique resort set amidst thick pine and oak forests of Sattal hills. The resort overlooks the beautiful and picturesque 7 interconnected lakes, which together form the Sattal lake complex. The resort is an eco friendly property, using rainwater harvesting and energy conserving design and architecture.

The resort has a gym and reading room/library (both books and movies), Pool Table, a large dinning cum conference room, modern kitchen, laundry, games room, spacious gardens and terraces. Its large lobby and dinning hall can host a variety of activities/ groups, from corporate conferences to yoga/meditation courses.

The place offers unparalleled bird watching opportunities and has access to some of the most beautiful and natural treks.

The Accommodation is provided in rooms that are luxurious and equipped with all modern amenities, running hot and cold water, electric blankets, satellite TV and DVD players. All rooms and terraces have a lake view.

Room types
Deodar Cottage
The Main Block has 4 Superior rooms with attached bath, hot and cold running water, Cable TV and DVD player, electric blankets and in-room seating. All rooms have large windows and large paneled doors for unhampered views of the lakes and surrounding hills.

All rooms lead to covered verandah for you to enjoy the ever changing landscape and open terrace to enjoy the sun. Average covered area per room (including bath, dressing and private covered verandah) is 425 sq feet.

Bedroom Terrace
Verandahs and terraces are provided with comfortable seating and tables for enjoying morning/evening tea and is ideal place to host private parties and family get togethers. Colourful seasonal flowers give you company on the spacious terraces. The views from the verandah are unparalleled.

You get the full view of the Sattal lakes and the thick pine forest all around, and also 360-degree views of the hills. Enjoy the mystique sunrise as you step out of the rooms and wait for the sunset to take your breath away. After a snowfall in January, the hills turn all white, a view not to be missed.

Pine Cottage
The Pine Cottage has 2 Regular rooms with attached baths and are equipped with all modern amenities. The cottage has its own independent living room and kitchen. The living room is equipped with cable TV, DVD player, music system and dinning table. Adjoining kitchen offers self cook option, and provision for tea/coffee making at all times.

All rooms open into a large 8 feet deep covered private verandah to enjoy the rains and ever changing landscape. The cottage is surrounded by gardens leading to open dinning area on one side and a sunset platform on the other side. All rooms have lake view. The cottage is Ideal for a family /group of 4 persons.

Taruwar Cottage
Taruwar is a pretty 3 bedroom cottage with its own living room and kitchen. The views are mind blowing. This cottage is perfect for a family that needs 3 rooms together. The master bedroom has an attached single room for accompanying kids/single adult.

The cottage has a covered verandah with a zhoola overlooking a colourful private garden. All rooms are lake facing and have  covered balconies and attached baths. The cottage is tastefully furnished and equipped with all modern amenities.

Trekking & Boating
The desire to touch and feel the forest may see you setting off to Bhimtal (a pleasant 2 hrs trek, past June Estate), or taking a leisurely walk to the waterfall just off the Sattal lake or  boating in the Sattal lake with a friendly know-all boat man.

Bird Watching
Uttarkhand has amazingly varied bird life. The area is a birdwatchers paradise and remains a best place for all the bird watchers.

Day Excursions
If and when you succumb to the pressure of visiting Nainital (23 kms), do take the ropeway to the snow viewpoint to see the majestic Himalayas. And do not forget to visit the roadside bazaar by the lake leading unto the famous Nainadevi temple. This is a comfortable day trip and you can even stop at Bhowali fruit market en route to pick up the choicest fruit of the season.

By now if your appetite for lakes and the famous Kadi Chawal and Kheer found in all the dhabas is not satiated, head for Naukuchiatal, or the lake with nine corners (14kms) or Bhimtal (12km on the same route).Or you could go for a day trip to Ramgarh and Mukteshwar.

Indoor activities
The resort has recently commissioned a Pool table to add to its choice of great indoor activities. Enjoy a game of Table Tennis or Caroms or simply relax with Cards, Chess and Scrabble. Or enjoy Badminton, Basketball (ring) or a game of Croquet or Dartboard in our spacious lawns.

The resort has a spacious reading room and library with a large collection of choicest books on all subjects and best sellers. Our video library has collection of great all time favourite movies in English, Hindi and some regional languages to suit all age groups.

The Resort as Base to Cover Uttarkhand
SatTal offer the ideal base location to cover the upper reaches of kumaon. The most popular destinations are Ranikhet, Almora, Binsar, Kausani, PatalBhuvneshwar, Jageshwar, Choukori and Munsyari.

Jageshwar is a cluster of 124 temples, most important being Jageshwar Jyotirling. Other temples in the complex are Maha Mrityunjaya, Navagrah, Pawantsut Hanuman, Nava durga, Mahakali, Kuber Mandir and Surya Temple.

Uttarakhand is blessed with an extremely wide variety of flora and fauna. The sub tropical zone, upto an altitude of 4000 ft above sea level, is home to Sal forest, the flame of the forest, jacaranda and yellow laburnum. Sattal Forest Resort is at an altitude of about 5000 ft where pines begin to dominate, along with Oak. Popular fruit trees are plums and peaches.

Some 230 varieties of birds are found there, some only in Sattal region. You can spot babblers, tits, bulbuls, warblers, minivets, woodpeckers, pigeons, myna and the colourful barbets. At the resort, the sunbird, the red billed magpie, the jungle myna, the long tailed minivet and Himalayan bulbul will be your constant companions.

The area abounds in butterflies and you can visit one of Asia's largest collection of Butterflies and moths at the Freddy's House when you go trekking to Bhimtal. Animal life abounds in the region. Sighting pine martens and various species of deer is normal.

By Rail
From Delhi by Ranikhet express (5013 up/5014 down). Departure from Old Delhi 10:45 hrs, arrival at Kathgodam 6:15 hrs. Taxi service/pickup facility is available from the railway station to the Resort (36 km, 1.30 hrs by road).

By Road
An early start before 6 am is a must and can save you upto 1 hr on the road and get you to the resort by lunch time.
