Porcupine Castle

The Porcupine Castle is straddled by a 300 acre coffee and spices estate and perched atop a hill. The views from Drango, the Restaurant is spectacular providing as it were, a 360 degree panorama. Ideal for nature worshipers, honeymooners, families and indeed the overworked executive. You get to be your natural self here whilst enjoying the mystique and beauty of a secluded and pure milieu. The Resort is girdled by a swath of fields and forests that fade into blue haze mountains.

Dining - The Drongo - Multiflavour Restaurant

The multi-cuisine restaurant derives its name after the native crow, which is also known as the King Crow.

The Drongo is the centre piece of the resort which offers the sweeping view of the valley along with the varied choice of delicacies. The all day dining restaurant is a favourite amongst the local coffee planters and their families.

The menu consists of Indian, Continental and Chinese but the speciality to look forward to would be the Coorgi preparations.

Guests who would like a special dish or two prepared for a special occasion can be arranged with prior notice.

The Corner - Conference Hall

This multipurpose hall can accommodate about 30 people.
It is ideal for offsite, leadership meetings and training programs. In-classroom trainng coupled with outdoor team building activities can also be arranged here.

Events for special occasions like birthday, anniversary or family get-togethers can also be arranged.

Coorg, with more than 4000 Sq kms of country side, 100s of kilometres of mountain tracks, undulating landscape, forests, rivers, wild life, large swaths of coffee plantations and all year round pleasant weather makes it an ideal place for adventure and outdoor activities for all age groups.

Going Walkabout: Trek through the winding nature trail crisscrossing the plantation which is interspersed with a canopy of trees giving it a feeling of being in a forest than in a plantation. Spot different animals like the Serpent Eagle, Draco (the rare winged lizard), Malabar Civet Cats and Wild Elephants and rare species of plants native to Coorg. The trek is scheduled for either early morning or late evenings to avoid exhaustion and to aid wildlife sightings. The duration and the distance covered can be tailored to the comfort of the guests. Refreshments will be provided at designated spots.

Please note that Wildlife spotting is a matter of chance and would depend on the season, time of the day etc.

Muddy My Wheels: Muddy my wheels is the 'Going Walkabout' on a 4 wheel drive open top jeep. It is an out and out off-roader experience traversing through the hilly terrain and slushy troughs of the estate. The thrilling drive will take you through blinding dense foliage, steep climbs over boulders and high speed estate tracks. It is designed for the thrill seekers and definitely not for the faint hearted.

Plantation Tour: Plantation tour is a horticultural field trip on a 4 wheel drive jeep. A relaxed outing where you will learn interesting information about Coffee and the spices that are grown in the estate. You will also enjoy an off-roader experience albeit without the adrenaline rush while negotiating steep rocky nature tracks. You cna spot the different species of flora like Coffee, Pepper, Jethropha Plants, centuries old trees including Rosewood, Coorg Mandarin Orange trees, Wild Orchids and other rare plants seen only in Coorg. The tour is scheduled for either early morning or late evenings to avoid exhaustion.

Hook, Line and Sinker: Relax by the pond and enjoy the scenery  around while you fish in any of the ponds littered around the estate. The different species of fish that you could find are Tilopia, Rohu, Common Carp and Grass Carp.

Peak Point: Trek to Thadiyandmol, one of the highest peaks in the western ghats. The first two third distance to the peak is covered on jeep and the rest on foot through coffee estates, dense vegetation, wooded areas and eventually the grasslands to the final ascent to the summit. Peak Point is a day trip and ideal to start the climb is at the break of the dawn.

Porcupine Castle is located close to the town of Pollibetta, about 30 kms from Madikeri, the capital of Coorg. The Resort is perched atop a hillock in the middle of a lush coffee and spices estate.
