Beaches near Auckland

One of New Zealand's most popular destinations, Coromandel, is also the closest beach to Auckland. The beaches here are isolated and offer a lot of adventurous water sports. You can also sink your teeth is some delicious and fresh sea food. Next, almost the same distance away, comes Bay of Plenty. The region houses some of NZ's best beaches and bays and offers enjoyable water sports like fishing, kayaking, surfing and snorkeling. Slightly further away is one of NZ's top tourist destinations, Bay of Islands. Here the beaches are filled with turquoise waters that make for an ultimate retreat to enjoy some water activities. Drive away from Auckland for 10 more minutes and you'll find Taupo. Here, a region surrounded by natural wonders, you can enjoy water sports. A long drive but a little under an hour's flight will get you to New Plymouth. You can visit Fitzroy Beach and relax or take a surf lesson. To Gisborne you can catch a short and direct flight and enjoy some of NZ's best surf beaches. You can also head to the numerous islands around NZ, which entail slightly longer travel times. The closest is Tonga where you can enjoy swimming with humpback whales. Next comes the Heart of the South Pacific, Fiji, where you are surrounded by palm-fringed white sand beaches and pristine waters whose reefs are dense with marine life. Then there is Cook Islands where you can enjoy the pristine waters surrounding the stunning white sand beaches and indulge in great local delicacies and water sports.
