If there is a city that can proudly boast a stunning mix of modern and medieval architecture, it is Innsbruck. Famously known as a winter destination for sports enthusiasts who flock here for skiing, snowboarding, mountain climbing and ski jumping, the city lies on the banks of the Inn river, amidst the picturesque setting of a section of the Austrian Alps called the Kerwendel Alps. It is located exactly south of Munich, a scenic two-hour drive that takes you through green meadows and meandering mountainous roads.
