Why Visit ?
Balerang Bridge -  is a chain of 6 large modern bridges which connect the islands of Batam, Rempang and Galang. Construction of theses bridges  started in 1992 and took several years to complete as there were no roads on the islands.

Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Buddhist Temple - is the biggest Buddhist temple in Indonesia and Southeast Asia with a land area of 4.5 hectares. It was built in 1991 and has very strong religious value which matches with the message of Buddha Maitreya.
Spa hopping -  There are vast selections of spa and massages which caters to the needs of tourists and the traditional Balinese massage is a must.

Water sports -  Nongsa coast offers variety of water sports such as banana boat, para sailing, windsurfing, kayaking etc.

Golfing - Can be enjoyed at Tering Bay international designed by International golf course designer Greg Norman

Mountain Biking -  Batam scenic northern coastline is best for  mountain biking  where one can cycle through dense green jungle and sweeping seafront. 

Pub hopping - Nagoya is the nightlife and entertainment district, which  has over 30 pubs within a few block radius. Pub hopping is a regular practice here. 
Golden Prawn Seafood restaurant and Harbour bay - Offers exotic sea food at affordable prices. 

Food courts - Batam has food courts, most of which open only at night. These courts  are perfect places to experience Batam's culinary culture. From seafood delicacies to local specialties to Chinese and Western fare these food courts offer variety of options to the tourists. The city with the highest number of food courts is Nagoya, and the biggest food court is Nagoya Food Court.
One of the best place to shop in Batam island is at Nagoya Hill Mall. One can find local food products like the popular kueh lapis (Indonesian layer cake) and Indomie (instant noodles) here. Sports equipment are widely sold though they are predominantly golf equipment. 

There are also several shopping malls and specialty stores which sell traditional Indonesian handicrafts. 
Languages spoken: Predominantly Indonesian, but English and German are spoken too.

Currency : Indonesian rupiah may be legal tender but Singapore dollars are also accepted. 

Climate: Two seasons affect batam which has tropical climate, wet season (November - April) dry season (May - October).
