Getting to Gulf of Aqaba
The Gulf of Aqaba is said to be one of the most ideal prettily-petite seaside retreats. Decked up with restaurants and stores, the city draws relaxed and chilled-out crowds who have an appetite for scuba diving, partying and fine-dining. The climate is temperate when compared to Amman. It has more of a typical coastal climate where any discomfort caused by humidity or precipitation is erased by the spectacular visage-chafing winds that make the strike almost every 2 minutes. With the coast giving you a relaxed withdrawal, some really good seafood restaurants and cafes to bank on and all that bow-tied with the region being set against a backdrop of majestic mountains, Aqaba is a must-see! It is well connected by flights from all major cities.

Why Visit ?
Aqaba is more of a scenic coastal retreat with very few places for sightseeing which, though small in number, are globally popular. Some of these well known places include:

Aqaba Fort: A sturdily built fort which is known for being a symbol of resistance during the Arab revolution. Despite being around since the late 13th century, the fort's magnificence is evident in the way it's protruding structure presents itself. Lawrence of Arabia is known to have begun his journey from the fort to Cairo as he traveled to the city to spread the word about the battle situation.

Ayla: The old city region in Aqaba which was once a cheerful area bustling with people and activity which is now the relic of the time gone by. The old town still is a wonderful area for sightseeing and understanding the life of people during those days. It also gives you a sniff at the local culture of the period.

Oldest Church in the world: The oldest known church on the planet which even predates the churches at Bethlehem and West Bank.
Some of the well known things to do in this lovely port city include:

  • Sightseeing trips to Aqaba Fort, Aqaba Heritage Museum.
  • Relaxing massage and natural Physio-therapy at some of the well known Spas and Turkish Baths in the city.
  • Watersport activities like Scuba Diving, Swimming and Jet Skiing at the Beach, Boat Rides and Cruises.
Al Fardos Cafe: A delightful outdoor Cafe which is your classical leisure Cafe in every sense. It serves fine Lattes, board games, magazines and some flat screens which show football games or music videos.

Syrian Palace Restaurant: Adjacent to the Al Amer hotel, this restaurant as the name suggests is known for it's delightful Syrian, Mediterranean and Jordanian cuisine.

Floka Seafood Restaurant: With splendid indoor and outdoor seating, the lovely seafood dishes are worth an experience with some of the exclusive Jordanian seasonings and spices.
Noor Al Hussain Emporium: A well known shop that sells rare articles like paintings, antiques and souvenirs. It also sells some of the most splendid pieces of traditional work like handicrafts, metal works, embroidery, carpets and jewelry.

Redwan Bookshop: A wonderful bookstore in Aqaba which is known for having a really good collection of International magazines, English Language Books, General Knowledge books and Travel guides.

Sam's Jewellers: A shop which is known to be more organic than fancy with jewelry, precious gems and stones, necklaces, house decors and wall hangings, all designed by the store's owners.
Language: Arabic

Climate: Courtesy to its coastal location, Aqaba is known to experience heavy winds throughout the year. Summers are known to get warm while winters are known to be warm and pleasant during the day with blissfully cool nights.

Currency: Jordanian Dinar
