Ganpatipule, a quaint beach getaway, is located in Ratnagiri district. The name comes from local folklore, which says Lord Ganapati moved from Gule, original abode, to Pule, few kilometers away, after taking offence in a comment made by a native lady. A 400-year-old idol Ganpati idol is said to have erupted from the soil and is a famous tourist sight. Enveloped by greenery of the agricultural fields, the getaway is any photographer's paradise.
