Otherwise known as a "Little Venice", Castres is a photogenic commune in the Tarn department of Southern France. Only a short distance from places like Toulouse and Albi are its bright, pastel-coloured houses that cast reflections in the river Agout's waters.
Castres is also known to be the birthplace of Jean Jaurès, the famous socialist leader, and for its rugby team, the Castres Olympique. Apart from its 17th century private mansions, the region is also home to the Goya Museum which supposedly houses the largest collection of Spanish paintings in France.
