The Camargue is a region of natural beauty blessed with abundant wildlife, unspoilt beaches, biking paths and pristine freshness. The commune of Arles makes the perfect stepping stone into the Camargue and has a lot to offer. Having once been the provincial capital of ancient Rome, it is home to several 'Roman and Romanesque Monuments' that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This includes the amphitheatre or arena which now hosts Arles' famous bullfights.
The town is renowned for having inspired the paintings of Van Gogh, and with its charming streets, splendid ruins and colourful houses, there's no reason to believe otherwise. It now hosts an annual photography festival every year that is definitely worth attending, just like its Saturday market which is said to be one of the best in all of Provence!
