Wiesbaden is one of the oldest towns in the continent, let alone Germany. The city name directly translates to 'meadow baths', with nearly 14 hot springs active today. It now is a destination for cultural activity and serves as the perfect place to get away, just outside the busy Frankfurt am Main city. Wiesbaden is host to a several music, culture and art festivals. Schlossplatz, the palace square, is the site of numerous neoclassical buildings that make up the historic old town center. Parks and gardens are present here in abundance but a must visit place would be the water propelled funicular railway, a one of a kind system - the Nerobergbahn.
