Founded sometime around 800 A.D, around 1,200 years back, Osnabruck developed as a bustling merchant town involved in trade around Europe and is now the abode of lovely cobblestone streets, lively student population, busy shopping arcades, and historic sites. Visit the Altstadt (old town) and the main market square dotted with eye soothing houses from the middle ages or pay homage to the German-Jewish painter - Felix Nussbaum, at the Felix Nussbaum Haus Museum, which houses his paintings during the Nazi regime, until he was killed at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. The city is also host to a famous Christmas Market held each year at the town center.
