Kempten is green pastures extending us over the horizon, stunning medieval architecture and a calm countryside. Situated at a distance of 130 kilometers southwest of Munich, at the foot of the mighty Alps, Kempten is disputed as one of the oldest settlements (town) in Germany - occupied much before Augsburg by the Romans, who named it Cambodunum in Latin. Kempten is the cultural capital of the beautiful Allgau region of the Bavarian state. The town is close to the borders of Switzerland and Austria and thus has established itself as a prominent tourist destination north of the Alps.
