Cook Islands is a collection of 15 pretty islands spread across 2 million square kilometers in the Pacific Ocean. Two of the most visited among the 15 are Rarotonga and Aitutaki. Rarotonga for being the largest and  most entertaining and Aitutaki for being the paradise for honeymooners. The are different ways to explore the region. You can go hiking and cover different bases or you can opt for the easier way and go kayaking. You'll marvel at the bewitching mountains, dense forests and white sanded beaches. The islands houses the world's largest coral lagoon and you can entertain yourself with other water activities like snorkeling, fishing and scuba diving. Rarotonga: The capital of Cook Islands and also the largest of all the islands, Rarotonga is a true jewel. It is surrounded by enchanting mountains, thick forests and white sanded beaches. The various plantations add to the beauty and you'll find plantations of bananas, coconuts, paw paw and pineapples.

Aitutaki: The second largest island in the region. Most famous for being the world's largest stunning coral lagoon, it flaunts many snorkeling spots. The turquoise waters are brimming with marine life and you'll find huge clams and multicolored tropical fish. The stunning beauty of the island is a spell that turns it into a Honeymoon Island (nickname). The romantic aura draws couples seeking the most memorable wedding possible.

Traditional Dance Shows: Something you wouldn't want to miss when you visit Cook Islands. You get to familiarize yourself with the island's traditional stories through their traditional dance shows. There are many places where you can combine dinner and a dance show. You can sure to have a memorable night.
Hiking: There are many places where you can explore on foot. There are Papua Waterfall, Avana Valley and Raemaru Lookout. They take about 2 hours to complete and you'll come across some of the prettiest views.

Water sports:
Scuba Diving - They diving sites are considered perfect for beginners.
Fishing - You'll find wahoo, barracuda, dolphin fish, yellowfin and skipjack tuna, sailfish, marlin and mahi mahi.
Kayaking - Head to Muri Beach and you can explore the Rarotonga Island in an easy, fun and relaxed way.
Swimming - Papua Waterfall has a natural pool you swim in.
Snorkeling - The clear waters off the coast of Rarotonga make it a perfect spot to see the remains of the Maitai Wreck that occurred in 1961.
Here you'll find numerous local delicacies that will take your taste buds to nirvana. Like the ika mata, which is raw fish served with coconut milk and lime juice and vegetables.
The seafood available at most restaurants is sensational with tuna and swordfish standing out as the best.
You can find restaurants serving the Western cuisine too but it is suggested you stick to the local delicacies.
There are an astonishing number of bars and pubs that night owls could visit. You get quality wines, spirits and cocktails. Some of the most famous places are Whatever Bar and Grill, Staircase Restaurant and Bar and Hideaway Bar. You'll also find that in Cook Islands they brew their own beer. The Matutu Beer and The Cooks Lager are two recommended ones.
Cook Islands is a place where you can fish for the perfect pearls.
You can select from various different products made from pearls and in colors different from the usually available colors. Like gold, silver, purple and green.
In Tokerau Jim, you'll see beautiful and incredibly fine carvings on pearls and pearl shells.
Punanga Nui Market: In this market, you'll find many things local like arts, crafts, produce, baked goods, musicians and people.

Climate: The climate in Cook Islands is generally warm and tropical. In Northern Cook Islands, the temperature is constant throughout the year. In Southern Cook Islands, however, there is a slight difference, of about 4°C, during the warm and cool months.

Connectivity: All the islands in Cook Islands have coverage, but the best mobile coverage is available in Aitutaki and Rarotonga.

Trivia: Captain Cook, who visited the islands in 1773 and 1777, initially named the islands Hervey Islands. The name Cook Islands is believed to have cropped up in the 1820s.
