Renowned worldwide, Chamonix is one of France's oldest and most magnificent ski resorts. Located in the French Alps, at the foot of the majestic Mont Blanc, it was the site of the first Winter Olympics in 1924. Standing 4,810 metres high, Mont Blanc is one of the most visited natural sites in the world. However, the Aiguille du Midi (3842 m) is the closest you can get to the summit of Mont-Blanc without hiking or climbing it. It is served by the world's highest vertical ascent cable car.
The Chamonix-Mont-Blanc region is home to innumerable sporting and cultural events throughout the year. While skiers and mountaineering enthusiasts mostly flock here during winters, summers make for great cycling and hiking opportunities. Kayaking and rafting are also popular at some of the region's pure and pristine alpine lakes.
Your visit here is bound to be blessed with an abundance of good views, especially if you decide to take the Montenvers Train for stunning views of the Mer de Glace, Les Drus and Les Grandes Jorasses. Once you're done with the peaks, downtown Chamonix is bustling with Michelin-starred restaurants and a vibrant nightlife worth experiencing!
