Why Visit ?
West Coast Wilderness Railway: A tour in this steam train will take you back in time and deep into the heritage of the wild West Coast. Original locomotives still are still operating on the railway today and the Abt system conquers the mountainous terrain through the rainforest. You also get to see The King River Gorge.

Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area: This site is a World Heritage Site and is one of the largest conservation areas in Australia. It is a network of parks and reserves with steep gorges. Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park is part of the World Heritage Area and around you can see dramatic mountain peaks, beautiful rainforests, deep river valleys and spectacular gorges. The ancient Huon Pines have been growing here for over 3000 years.

Lake Burbury: This lake is a man-made water reservoir which is most famous for its wind lane fishing.
In this region, activity is all about going on cruises and tours to explore the different scenic regions in the area and also the heritage sites.
Risby Cove: A sophisticated restaurant situated just across the water from the town centre, and the views over the water are spectacular. The menu features dishes like roast Tamar Valley duck and fresh Macquarie Harbour ocean trout. There is a good menu for kids as well.
Another good Australian restaurant in the region is View 42° and here you get delicious and fresh local seafood.

Regatta Point Tavern: This casual restaurant serves pub-food and you get steaks and burgers as well as fresh seafood. Recommended fancy dish is the crayfish mornay. The menu for kids is good too.
If a pub-like atmosphere is what you are looking for, you can also visit Hamer's Hotel and try the amazing seafood dishes like the Macquarie Harbour ocean trout or the huge eye fillet steaks.
For souvenirs and gifts, visit the Wilderness Woodworks. Here you can buy unique quality woodwork products especially kitchen knick-knacks, platters and ornamental objects. The products are made of Huon Pine and you can smell the aromatic timber-finishing oils.

For art and craft, visit the Cove Gallery. A visit to this shopping center ensures an addition to your art collection. You can browse through fine woodworking, paintings and crafts.
