Devonport is a busy coastal city located at the mouth of the Mersey River. The city is enveloped by rivers, oceans and mountains and is close to the stunning Cradle Mountain. At the many beaches and bays, you can opt for a relaxing time or enjoy rowing, sailing, kayaking and fishing. You can also explore the city by going on guided tour and cruises. Home Hill: A historical site which was formerly the residence to Prime Minister Joseph Lyons, his wife Dame Enid Lyons and their 12 children. Known for its architecture, it was built in 1916 and now houses a rich collection of personal material and provides an insight into Australian political life.

The Tasmanian Arboretum: This site is a botanical park where you can take walks, encounter wildlife of the region and be amidst a peaceful ambience. The park houses the largest collection of Tasmanian living woody plants. 
There are a variety of tours and cruises you can go on and explore the region's food, wine and then the city itself.

You can also go hiking up to the summits of Mt Victoria or North Head to admire the truly spectacular views of the city.

There are many beaches and bays like the Devonport Beach, Cheltenham Beach and Torpedo Bay where is the place to be is you want to stretch your legs and relax a bit. You can also go rowing, sailing, kayaking and fishing.
There are numerous coffee houses, cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants to choose from that will definitely please any foodie. 

Mrs Jones
: This Australian restaurant has a stunning decor, Tasmanian oak tables, leather sofas and an open kitchen, and serves exceptional food that flaunts the local produce. The menu features dishes like slow braised lamb shoulder in cinnamon and all spice and coconut duck curry and more.

Dannebrog: This steakhouse is named after the Danish flag in honor of Tasmanian Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. The meat lovers are sure to savor the juicy steaks, served with salad, chips and a sauce of your choice. 
Most of the stores in Devonport are independently and locally owned ones. There are some stores that sell designer clothing to children's wear, jewelry to handmade chocolates.
