Cradle Mountain is a part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. It is also the best-known feature of the island, the fifth highest mountain in Tasmania, one of the top 10 extraordinary places in the world to stay at and one of the most photographed sights in Australia. Taking the form of a perfect new-moon curve, its reflection on mirror-still waters is beyond breath-taking. The mountain is located near the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, and this national park shares a "Twin Parks" contract with the World Heritage listed Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve in the People's Republic of China. For some adventure, there are several opportunities for horse riding and trekking. Other beautiful sights in the region are The Wall in the Wilderness, Devils at Cradle and the Wilderness Gallery.
