Beaches near Sydney

If you can't wait to get your weekend started, the shortest drive would be to Wollongong. The spectacular white sandy beaches coupled with a laid-back lifestyle are the basic ingredients for the perfect beach getaway. There is also Central Coast which is about the same distance away as Wollongong. This getaway is a beautiful dovetail of bays, inlets, lakes and beaches! Then a slightly longer drive away is Port Stephens which is listed as an exemplary beach getaway. Also known as the Dolphin Capital of Australia, you can see over 150 bottlenose dolphins. Then comes Coffs Harbour which is known for its fabulous crescent-shaped beaches and is a famous destination for coastal holidays. For a surfing holiday, the spectacular golden sand beaches of Gold Coast make a great option as well. If flying is an option, then you can fly to the World Heritage Area, Lord Howe Island. Here you can enjoy a perfect and relaxed holiday as you gasp at the mountains watching over the beaches and bays. If you combine a short flight and a short drive, you reach the Tweed-Coolangatta region where you can enjoy a calm holiday at the secluded beaches such as Letitia Spit and Dreamtime Beach. Longer flights will take you to the most beautiful of islands like Fiji, Cook Islands, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands.
