Aalborg is Denmark's northernmost city and the fourth largest in the country. The city is notably famous for its half-timbered merchant houses and wonderful Gothic and Renaissance age buildings. Aalborg is also a cultural hub as it plays host to numerous music festivals, opera events, theater shows and symphony orchestra. Don't forget to visit the Jomfru Ane Gade, one of Denmark's most eminent landmarks dotted with cafes, bars, pubs, and discotheques. The Aalborg Carnival is one of Scandinavia's largest festivals that takes place in May annually. The European Commission conducted a study and concluded that the citizens of Aalborg are the most satisfied people in Europe with their city.
