Itinerary
Day 1
Colombo
Arrive at Colombo Bandaranayake International Airport, and drive to Colombo to start your holiday. Colombo is the largest city, and the financial and commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Colombo is a busy and vibrant city with a fusion of modern and colonial impression. You can find buildings influenced by the colonial Portuguese, Dutch and British styles alongside Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic structures. The city is also known for its shopping districts. You have the day to explore the city. You will be coming back on the last day before leaving, so you can have a relaxed trip and put off some shopping and sight-seeing for later as well. Retire for the night at Hotel in Colombo.
Day 2
Bentota
After breakfast, drive to Bentota. Major sight-seeing around Bentota consists of a boat ride on the river Madhu, and visiting the Turtle Hatcheries. The Boat-ride is very scenic, passing by mangrove islets in the river, while sinking in the natural surroundings. You can also visit the more exclusive Turtle Hatchery, which is a nesting site for Turtles opened by the Wildlife Protection Society. Apart from this, you can also spend your day relaxing on the beaches of Bentota. A lot of water-sports are also available for the adrenaline-junkies. The overnight stay will be in the Hotel at Bentota.
Day 3
Galle
After breakfast, you will be driven to Galle, a beautiful little harbour-city with a rich colonial history. The Chinese and the Arabians frequented the port, before it was taken over by the Dutch and subsequently by the British. Apart from simply spending your time in the city, you can visit the Dutch Fort. This is the most popular site in Galle, and is named a UNESCO heritage site owing to its archaeological reserves. You can explore the Dutch Museum inside the Fort. You will spend the night in the hotel in Galle.
Day 4
Colombo
Today you will head back to Colombo. You can relax for the reminder of the day here, or catch up on shopping or any other sight-seeing you might have put off for later from the first day. Odel, House of Fashion, Beverly Street, Majestic City, Noritake, etc are recommended.
Day 5
Return form Colombo
Check-out after breakfast and leave for the airport to return home. The airport is located an hour?s drive from the city, so plan accordingly.
