Where to Stay in Kruger National Park

Spend a day bird watching from your picnic spot along the banks of the Luvuvhu River, tee-off at the Skukuza Golf Course, explore the numerous hiking trails, and be sure not to miss out on a Kruger safari experience! Whatever you imagined your perfect escape into the wilderness to be like, Kruger National Park will give you just that! Whether you're in Johannesburg, only a couple of hours away, or in any other part of the world, this destination cannot be missed.

These are a few places worth looking at when you're planning your stay in or around Kruger National Park:

1) Sabi Sands:

Located on the south west border of this park, it is one of the best safari destinations in south Africa, with unfenced boundaries going into to national park for miles on end. Sabi Sands is famous for the sighting of the big five ( i.e. lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino and also the most elusive leopard). This area is also frequently visited by wild dogs and cheetahs, making it an ideal location to tick off the big seven.

Places to Stay: Sabi Sabi Bussh Lodge, Inyati Game Lodge, Protea Hotel

2) Marloth Park

This beautiful region is situated on the border of the infamous national park. The people in this area are more in-tuned with being committed to maintaining the flora and fauna and avoid most human contact. Here you will find a few locations with strict rules with respect to hindering of animals' movements, thereby allowing many of these species to cross borders freely and with no threat. So it is a beautiful location to see animals in their natural habitat from grazing in the fields to the mighty crocodiles in the river.

Places to Stay : Crocodile Kruger Safari Lodge, Elephant Walk Retreat, Serenity Du Bois Lodge

3) Thohoyandou:

The former capital of the independent homeland, Thohoyandou roughly translated means 'the head of the elephant'.  This is one of the busiest sides of the area with fresh fruit markets, street vendors and also a number of students who stay here as the university is close by. However, this is a land of farm fresh vegetables, coffee, tea, delicious tropical fruits, tobacco and also maize fields. These incredible fields are mainly run by the rural villages here. Their homes are made in a vintage tradition with decorative walls that are ever-so-delightful to witness.

Places to Stay:The Outpost Lodge, Pafuri Camp, Vhueni Village Lodge

No matter where you choose to stay, Kruger National Park will not disappoint you with its plethora of activities catering to varied interests and travelers. As for your stay, be it a lodge, an extravagant hotel or a rustic campsite you choose to book, the Kruger experience is unparalleled!
