Overview

Club Mahindra Whispering Pines at Gables Mashobra, has played host to the British during the Raj. The resort has been refurbished in contemporary style, offering 67 spacious apartments, rooms and public areas, tastefully decorated and modern. All apartments are well appointed and some offer breathtaking views of the majestic Himalayan ranges. The facilities include a multi cuisine restaurant, a specialty restaurant, bar, activity centre and spa.

Situated over 7000 feet above sea level, the breathtakingly beautiful hill station of Mashobra is part of the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. This quaint town dates back to the 18th century and was built in the British era by Lord Dalhousie. Mashobra is linked to the city of Shimla by the historic and age old Hindustan Tibetan highway rechristened NH 22. Surrounded with densely covered forests of oaks and pines, it is also one of the main markets supplying fruits and vegetables to Shimla.

Attractions

Mashobra has several excellent picnic spots within thick woods of cedars. Trek around Mashobra or Craigano. Enjoy the fresh scent of pine and cedar, walk amongst the orchards and admire the old heritage sites and monuments that dot the entire area.

Shimla Reserve Forest Sanctuary
Since Mashobra is part of the Shimla Reserve Forest Sanctuary, trekking here is a delightful experience, surrounded by a variety of flora and fauna and all the forest creatures, including the shy musk deer, the state animal of Himachal. You could also trek your way to the many peaks to catch some breathtaking views.

Nalhedra
About 9 kms away from Mashobra is Naldehra, a former camping ground during the British colonial rule, now home to a spectacular nine hole golf course.

Shimla
While at Shimla, the erstwhile capital of the British Raj, apart from the sheer beauty presented by its mountains, valleys and forest, some of the other attractions include The Ridge, Christ Church, Jakhu Temple, Summer Hill, Himachal State Museum and the Library.

Ski Slopes spots
Further up you can head to Mahasu, famous for its ancient temple. Or perhaps Kufri or Narkanda, famous for its ski slopes.

Fagu
Fagu, situated in the middle of apple orchards and forests is a great place to relax with a luncheon picnic basket.

Local festivals & fairs
The Sipi Fair is a colorful festival that begins in the month of May. The fair day is also a public holiday. This festival is attended by local officials as well. This festival is organized in Mashobra.

The Summer Festival also generally takes place in May, when summer begins to unfold. It is a festival of colours, and the natural ambience of the district makes this fair even more enjoyable.

You can join other skating enthusiasts to celebrate the Ice-Skating Carnival in Shimla.

Other attractions
Feel the adrenalin rush as you river raft on the Sutlej river. Indulge yourself in the hot spring baths at Tattapani. Enjoy the heritage walks at Chail.

Getting there

By Air
Daily direct flights to Shimla from Delhi are available. Private air charters can also be organized. The flying time is 90 minutes. The Shimla airport is 45 minutes from the hotel. Limousine pick up can be arranged from Shimla or Chandigarh airport.

By Rail
Fast trains run daily from Delhi to Chandigarh and Kalka. From Kalka, train connections on a quaint narrow gauge railway, built in 1903, are available. The travel time is approximately 4 hours. There are number of trains to Chandigarh and Kalka. Limousine pick up can be arranged from Shimla, Kalka or Chandigarh railway stations.

By Road
One scenic way to reach there is by the narrow gauge train from Kalka. The train winds it way up hills, slopes, forests and passes through over a 100 tunnels. You will simply love the breathtaking views of nature as you travel. Sightseeing in Shimla is incomplete without visiting the Mall. You will find majority of the landmarks here. With restaurants, bars, clubs and tourist offices it is the main shopping hotspot.

Shimla is connected by road from Chandigarh (135 kilometers), from Kalka (105 Kilometers) and from Delhi (395 Kilometers). The drive from Delhi to Shimla takes approximately 8 hours. The drive from Chandigarh to Shimla takes approximately 3 hours.

Getting To Mashobra in Shimla
From the capital city of Himachal, Shimla, you can avail of a taxi or a hired car to cover the 45 minutes distance. Bus Service is available at regular intervals. The journey from Shimla to Mashobra is wonderfully inspiring with mountain views.
