Cairo is located in close proximity to the fabled and legendary Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx which stand out like a mega relic on the city map. All this along with the grand mosques, museums and palaces, a rich selection of Michelin Star-worthy local restaurants and the vibrant art and craft scene makes Cairo an experience of a lifetime. Why Visit ?
Al Azhar Mosque: One of the most revered and structurally brilliant mosques in the country which started out as a center for learning. Over the years it has evolved into a religious and theological society with a lot of followers across the country. The mosque's main courtyard is nothing short of artistic perfection. The geometrical structure with the tomb of the mosque is the main attraction though. The entire mosque was built from a blend of various artistic styles and methods.

Museum of Islamic Art: The most well known among Cairo's museums which contains various manuscripts, texts and art pieces that gives details of the history of the city and the country. The museum also consists of various plaster and canvas art pieces bearing some of the most breathtaking ancient artwork you will ever see.

Pyramids, Giza: Everybody no matter how old or young has seen the Pyramids of Giza hundreds of times, either on the cover of an Encyclopedia, a fancy notebook, a diary, a poster or in movies and documentaries. When somebody asks you to name the wonders of the world, the first words to come off your lips are the "Pyramids of Giza". No structure is more significant in world history and none so awe-inspiring. Just the sheer structure spawns dozens of myths and conspiracy theories. Most people just can't help clicking albums full of photos of these pyramids. The pyramids, to this day, are the most famous and most visited of all tourist attractions, not only in Egypt, but the world over.

Sphinx, Giza: If the pyramids represent artistic and structural brilliance, the legendary Sphinx represents Cerebral and Visceral historic terror. If we can translate the manuscripts, the Sphinx was often called words like "Beast" , "Wrangler", " True Terror" etc. The Sphinx may be smaller in size compared to the pyramids but it's structure, built entirely out of a single sandstone, leaves people gawking.
Cairo is full of recreational and tourism related activities which are great to fill your diary with. Some of the best activities in the city include:
  • Felucca Rides along the Nile River.
  • Hanging out at some of the Parks and Zoos like the Giza Zoo Park, Cairo Botanical Gardens and the Desert Park.
  • Horse Riding.
  • Musicals and Plays at well known theatres like the Cairo Opera House, Egyptian Centre for Arts & Culture, Jazz Club and Garden Theatre.
Hati-el-Geish: The ideal restaurant for meat lovers with the restaurant's vast menu of Steaks, Sizzlers and some of the uber-cool Mediterranean dishes which are more than just tempting and lip-smacking. The restaurant also has a wonderful menu of mocktails and fresh-fruit juices

Seagull: A highly popular seafood joints in the city where you can just walk up to the stall, select your favorite fish and wait for a few minutes as your fish is being prepared with some lovely spices and Mediterranean flavors.

Cafe Riche: Claimed to be the oldest restaurant in Cairo, the Cafe is known for being a favorite among travelers who, after a long and tiring day of travel, love their Iced Tea or Beer with some cold sandwiches or some of the Egyptian snack delicacies which are served with a European touch.
Nomad: Well known art and crafts store which is the ideal place to shop for Handicrafts, Jewelry, Gems , Silkworks and Traditional Handlooms.

Souq-Al-Gomaa: A well known Souq which is located in the residential area Khalifa. Excellent place to look for some fine Bedouin clothing and other traditional Egyptian clothing and winter wear. The place is also known to have some stores selling some rare and precious antiques.

Souq-Al-Fastat: A relatively new Souq which looks more modern when compared with the other Souqs in the city. The Souq, in spite of its modern look, is still known to have shops and stalls selling some rare antiques, souvenirs and metal works along with clothes, jewelry as well as flavors and spices.
Language: Egyptian Arabic

Climate: Cairo is known to experience extremely hot and dry summers with temperatures frequently soaring past 40 degrees. Winters are characterized by slightly warmer days and biting cold nights. The city is known for it's sever wind storms with most of its annual rainfall concentrated during its winter season.
