Siolim House

Casa Palacio Siolim House is one of the best maintained heritage boutique properties in Goa.

Surprisingly hidden from view behind a tall row of Ashoka trees, the house understates its stature as one of Goa's most unique and oldest manor houses. There are very few examples of the aristocratic late 16th century 'casa do sobrado' style of Goa-Portuguese architecture remaining in North Goa.

They are perfectly placed for the lovely beaches just to the north of Morjim, Ashwem, Arambol and Mandrem beaches and the action of the Candolim, Calangute, Baga, Anjuna beaches to the South.

Two other exceptional properties in the village are owned by the brother and a friend of the owner of Siolim House - a three room restored annexe villa to the boutique hotel, called Little Siolim; and Frangipani - a heritage village home restored with a modern touch with with a beautiful modern annexe, designed by a renowned architect. 

As a unique Heritage boutique hotel in Goa, it operates with a sensitive philosophy to the village, its culture and surroundings.

The hotel has rooms and suites spread on two floors -

Siolim House Superior Suites
Superior suites on the first floor of the main house - fourposter bed and antique furniture huge proportions, wooden floors epic bathroom. The superior suites include the three rooms in the front house - Macau, Macassar (our large romantic suites on the first floor) and Malabar (2 bedrooms). Our Superior Suites, are not air-conditioned, in keeping with our wishes to maintain the integrity of the architecture. The high ceilings and thick wall are adequate. In our opinion AC is not required except in late April and May.

Siolim House Standard Suites
Standard Room are set around courtyard, fourposter bed and antique furniture, unique terracotta tiled bathroom with shower, in-room amenities and safe. We have four Standard rooms which include twin or double bedded suites. Three of our rooms are air-conditioned for those visiting in the around Easter and in the summer and need AC.

Cooking
Aunties Jane and Lourdes will pass on their knowledge of authentic Goan recipies. Take a tour of the local fish market, select the freshest catch and learn to cook. One will be able to relish their own dish once the cooking is done.

Cooking classes of Goan cuisine at Siolim Cooking School can be arranged via the hotel.

Fishing trip
The Siolim River (or Chapora River), is one of Goa's most enchanting estuarine systems. It flows in from the Western Ghats some 60 km distant and travels through unspoilt country to end up at the Chapora - Morjim bay, from where it enters the sea. It is mostly a river-sea system with salty water for most of the larger parts. Lower levels of water are sweet, as is further up.

There are wonderful islands, birdlife and villages all along the river. You can use one of our three boats to go fishing in a group or on your own, or even just choose to take an excursion with your family. Further up the river there are spots where you could see Goa's own river crocs too!

If you are luckly you can get our local fish which include Groupers, Barracudas, Snappers, Trigger fish, Crevalle, Tuna, Mackerels, Parrot fish, Mangrove Jack, Salmon, Trevally, Croakers.

Siolim House organises a fishing and lunch program.

Yoga

Yoga classes at Siolim House can be arranged for guests.

The classes are held every day from 7.15-8.30 AM in a group setting. Given how small our property is it will rarely be more than 6 people in the class, and sometimes you could even be on your own! If you wish you can take an extra private class too from our teacher later in the evening as well as meditation classes.

Reach Siolim village in North Goa through NH17 (Goa - Mumbai) via Mapusa.

From the Siolim Bazaar near the St. Anthony's Church, take the small road going to Chapora. Siolim House is around 150m on the left, a large white house.

Siolim House is situated in North Goa, in the district of Bardez. Although we are not on the main strip of Baga Calagute we are in fact very conveniently situated to visit the less visited idyllic beaches of Morjim, Ashwem, Arambol and Keri to the North of us and the action and beaches of the south towards Anjuna, Baga, and Calangute. The house is at the entrance of the village of Siolim that is a very unspoiled and local village. While this means that you will get a feel of living in real and not maicured surroundings, don't expect hotels and restaurants around us. These are mostly situated on the tourist strips.
