Getting to Nasik
Located by the scintillating waters of the Godavari, Nashik is located in north-western Maharashtra and is a much sought after spiritual tourist spot. Known for its vast landscape dotted with archaic forts, majestic temples, hazy hills and cascading waterfalls, Nashik attracts a number of tourists throughout the year. Nasik is the third largest city in the state and was host to the grand triennial Kumbh Mela in 2015. As an interesting parallel, Nashik is also known as the Wine Capital of India, as it has acres of vineyards where tours are conducted regularly. Looks like a visit to Nashik gets you the best of both worlds!

Why Visit ?
Ramkund: Considered a holy bathing ghat, hundreds of pilgrims make a pit stop here to bathe, pray or immerse the ashes of their dear departed. An equivalent to Ganga, the holiest region in Maharashtra.

Temples: The Kala Rama Temple, just a short distance from Ramkund, dates back to 1794. Exhibiting unusual representations of Rama, Sita and Lakshamana, this temple was supposedly built where, legend has it, Lakshamana cut off Surpanakhas nose.
Timings: 9am to 6pm

Sita Gufaa: It is believed that this is the place where Rama and Sita prayed to Lord Shiva during their exile.

Sula Vineyards: Roughly 15kms from the city, Sula Vineyards runs a tour which ends with a tasting session at Rs.150. A few kilometers inside is a bungalow called Beyond, where you can partake in activities such as cycling or kayaking.
Khyber: One of Nasiks best restaurants, Khyber comes highly recommended for Afghani food.

Other restaurants to try would be Annapoorna Lunch Home, Talk of the Town, and Panghat Thali.

Safar Bazaar: Buy silverware and ornaments at Safar Bazaar, something the city is famous for.
Languages spoken: Marathi, English, Hindi
Currency: Indian Rupee
Climate: Mostly hot and dry, Nashik is pleasant after monsoons, between October and March.
Connectivity: Mobiles will be well connected.
Trivia: It is said that Nashik was where Lord Rama went through his 14 years of exile.
