Kovalam Art Gallery Overview: Home to inspirational paintings, artwork and artifacts, the Kovalam Art Gallery is a favourite tourist haunt. Much appreciated, especially by international visitors and artists, the Kovalam Art Gallery is a great place to spend some quality time.

Kovalam Surf Club: For Rs.700, you can take surfing lessons at Kovalam Surf Club. Professional surfers will teach you how to take on the tides for ninety minutes.

Rent a Speedboat at Hawa Beach: Take a fun speedboat ride at the Hawa beach coastline. At Rs.300 per person, you can rent a boat for 30 minutes.

Wooden Boat Ride: At Kovalam's Main Beach/Leela Beach you can go out on the ocean with a traditional Catamaran. These ancient boats are rowed with a bamboo paddle and maneuvered by experienced local fishermen. Rides last from about 15 to 120 minutes and cost between Rs.300 to Rs.600 per person.The best time for going snorkeling from the boat is in the early morning. Most romantic are the "sunset cruises". No advance booking necessary. 

Walk the Sea Wall: Venture along the long rocky Barricade separating the sea from the land at the Samudra Beach Reached by a detour past Kovalam Junction. Although there is hardly any beach here at high tide, it is an awesome sight to see huge waves crash on the rocks below you.

The food in Kovalam comprises mainly of the quintessential South Indian cuisine. Thus rice, dosas, idlis, vadas and uttapams are savored by locals and tourists alike. Kovalam being located on the shores of the Arabian Sea also boasts of a fantastic menu comprising of sea food.

Best restaurant: Bait, which is excellent for sea food. 

Shopping in Kovalam is quite an exciting affair with innumerable shacks or shops lined up along the beach sides. Kovalam is famous for statues made of teakwood and rosewood. Buy an exciting range of collectibles from Tibetan Knick- Knacks to Kashmiri Shawls, chunky Silver Ornaments to Ethic Jewellry , Malabar Spices to Kerala Artefacts and much more from the numerous shops lining the Beachside.
