Guns, masks, ammo. Are we game?
It might appear a regular game of paintball involves random running, hiding, pointing and shooting. It is anything but that. In fact the fun element in paintball actually comes from structured game plays and defined roles. Paintball also has professional status in some countries where Paintball Leagues (akin to the latest IPL games in India) - both regional and national take place. These involve professional competitions, big prizes (mostly cash) and a lot of cheerleading and fanfare. Paintball Leagues are most common in the U.S., Canada, Australia, South America and some parts of Europe.
Here’s a look at the most common games played:
Capture the Flag: This one is touted as the original paintballing game and is still the most popular, though today several variations have been introduced. The basic premise of the game is to capture the opponent team’s flag and return it to home base. Teams are divided into two and often roles are assigned such as guarders, attackers etc. This one lasts approximately 20 minutes or so and allows for a a great deal of team work and strategizing. It is also considered the most fun.
Manhunt or Elimination: This name depends on which side you’re on :) But basically one player is the hunted and the others, hunters. The hunted’s aim is to get to his designated destination within a timeframe. The hunters’ aim is to ensure that this doesn’t happen. It require swift, agile movements and sharp, spontaneous thinking.
King of the Hill: The aim of this game is to capture and hold one or more bases. The teams can be more than two. Whichever teams holds the base (keeps other attackers off) for the longest amount of time, wins. This game is a lot of fun if there are lots of players.
Amongst the myriad ways that companies foster outbound team building, paintball has got to be the most playful and colourful. Sure, the fun element is a huge part of the paintball experience, but each game also brings out certain skills in the team – both individually and collectively. So lets look at some of the "serious" stuff that comes out of a wild game of paintball:
Community and belonging
This one aspect of outbound training just cannot be undermined. People on such corporate events get a chance to step out of their daily routine, drop their outer masks and connect with each other with a sense of inclusiveness and solidarity. In (huge) companies this plays an important role because different departments have very limited and objective interactions with each other.
High pressure = high bonding
Remember all the movies about war veterans getting together and feeling like family? Yes, it’s because they go through some intense, life-and-death moments together. And while paintballing is not war, it is like war. The game settings are often simulated along war games requiring players to look out for each other, make split second decisions and maybe share an occasional joke when stuck in the trenches with another mate. This allows for some really deep bonding and it goes a long way after the games are over.
Strategy Strategy Strategy
Most paintball games are designed so teams can put their heads together and come up with a game plan. This is a great place to see the natural leaders emerge who immediately understands the objectives and identify players for various roles. The entire team needs to develop pretty quickly an efficient way of communicating with each other and also trusting that each one is doing what he’s supposed to do. Otherwise things don’t move forward. This involves each player to think on the spot, organize thoughts and strategize as they play.
Interdependence and contribution
Every team member’s role in winning needs to be a 100%. If one member slackens off or is careless, the entire team is likely to suffer. This puts a very healthy pressure on each team member. It provides validity to his contribution and also motivates him to put his best efforts to achieve a common goal.
Risks and out-of-the-box thinking
We all know how even the best laid plans fall flat on their face sometimes! There is every chance that the perfect strategy will just not work 10 minutes into the game. So what do you do? Well, you hope that your team is creative with their problem-solving ability. A game of paintball is the perfect place to explore how much risks team members are willing to take and come up with new ideas and strategies.
Simply great exercise
Our lives are dangerously sedentary. And an unfit body can definitely not host a healthy, fit mind can it? Paintball brings people outdoors, gets their adrenaline pumping and satisfies their spirit of adventure. There’s a thrill to the game that energizes and exhilarates.
So, how does your team figure on these points? Find out by taking them out on a game of paintball!

What should I wear?
Shoes are a must. With the fact you'll be running around, the most likely cause of any injury is unsuitable footwear. Full arm T-shirt /sweat shirt and preferably Jeans. Wear loose fitting, old clothing. A sense of Humour is also a bonus.
What is the minimum size of group?
10 is the minimum group size. We do conduct games with smaller groups (8-6). But the larger the group the more the action.
Does it hurt?
It hurts enough not to want to get shot! But not enough to stop our customers returning again and again!
Is it Dangerous?
A representative medical board in America compared the injury statistics of a number of sports. They concluded that you were more likely to become a casualty from a round of golf than from a day paintballing! Provided you follow the basic safety rules that our staff strictly enforce during your visit, the worst you can expect is aching muscles and the odd bump or bruise.
Is the day affected by the weather?
Weather conditions do not affect us in the slightest. Some guests prefer paintballing in the wet and mud, others like it sunny and dry. Whatever the weather you'll hardly notice with the excitement and adrenaline!
Do I need to be experienced to play?
No. The majority of our customers have never played the game before so you'll soon find you're not alone in getting to grips with the game. Our experienced marshals are always on hand to advise and point players in the right direction.
